Azrul Azwar Ahmad Tajudin is an economist by training and profession with over 19 years of experience in economics, statistics and database, financial markets, Islamic finance, public policies, strategic planning and general management. Apart from spending almost his entire working life in the financial sector in particular banking, securities and investment management industries, he ventured into an unchartered territory twice - as the economist to the former Chief Minister of Selangor state government and an analyst at the Islamic Financial Services Board, a multilateral organisation. Apart from doing freelance project-based consultancy and research work on a multitude of issues for a variety of clients, particularly financial institutions, government agencies, institutions of higher education, think tanks and non-governmental organisations, he sits on the board of several SMEs.
Prior to his employment at the Chief Minister's Office, he was attached, mostly as economist/analyst to a number of domestic financial institutions. In his work capacity, he has been invited to participate, mostly as a speaker/panelist and/or moderator in closed-door meetings, brainstorming sessions, workshops, forums, seminars and conferences, in Malaysia and abroad, to share his thoughts on economics in general, financial markets, Islamic finance and public policies.
