Khairuddin Mohd Piah

Khairuddin is an old hand at the oil and gas, and chemicals and chemical products game having been in the industry for almost 40 years. Starting as a Process Engineer, he progressed up within the Esso organization, assuming various supervisory and management positions in refinery, marketing and distribution, and safety. He had a short but impactful foreign assignment at Esso Thailand Sriracha Refinery as the Startup Technical Advisor in a USD1b expansion project. He then became Esso Malaysia Marketing Customer Service Manager in 1997 and led the development of world-class delivery fleet and professional haulers.
He joined PETRONAS in 2008 and became the Advisor/Head of Process Safety in various divisions to ensure good governance and controls related to process safety. He also conducted process safety training courses for downstream operations. In 2015, he became the Head of Operational Excellence Academy at PETRONAS Leadership Centre in Bangi. At present, he is a freelance consultant and trainer for Institution of Chemical Engineers UK and PETRONAS Lubricants International. He is also a Behavioural Safety practitioner and a professional in Process Safety and a DOSH registered CIMAH Regulation Competent Person
